The unconscious mind as an operating system. An analogy between the mind and a computer.

Hi. Thank you for visiting Better Mindset for the first time. Look around all you want. I love to get real comments from you. Additions, correction, disagreements are welcome. Register as a user if you like. Stephen

The analogy I have outlined here is only an analogy…

The symbol <==> between body parts and computer parts means something like, “have some functions in common”.
I hope that when you ponder this set of analogies, you will not substitute, “Equals” or “is the same as” etc.
I have included links to definitions and discussions of some terms. I humbly suggest that you keep in mind that “definitions” and “discussions” are, themselves, extended analogies.
“Definition”<==>TRUTH and “Discussion”<==>TRUTH !

Mouth ( when eating ) and digestive system – The computer’s wall plug and chord.

Digestive Tract – The wires and circuit board traces that feed the power supply.

The metabolic pathways ( Krebs cycle, Glycolysis, etc. ) – Power supply

The Physical Brain – Memory chips ( RAM and ROM), CPU, Ports )

Peripheral Nervous System – wires and circuit board traces that carry data ( information ) between internal parts of the computer..

Eyes, Ears, taste buds, skin ( nerve endings for temp, pain, touch ), Vocal chords and mouth, muscles –– Peripherals devices.
Unconscious mind –– The operating system ( Windows, Mac OS, Linux, ….. )

Short term memory – Contents of RAM. “Contents” , as used here, means “patterns of electrical charges or patterns of magnetized material that have been assigned a fixed but arbitrary meaning.

Long term memory – Contents of hard drives. Eproms. “Contents”, here, may also be patterns in optically sensible areas ( as in a CD or DVD ).

Conscious mind – Apllications, using data in long and short term memory as well as information from the peripherals to produce actions, new memory writes, outputs to peripherals, and consciousness. Consciousness still defies definition.

I will write much more about the Unconscious Mind in upcoming articles. Just like a computer operating system, the unconscious mind resides in memory, controls the execution of almost all “programs and is always working behind the scenes no matter what you or the computer is doing. MOST IMPORTANT to our happiness and success is this:

THE OPERATING SYSTEM AND THE UNCONSCIOUS MIND ARE IN LONG TERM MEMORY, BUT THEY BOTH CAN AND SHOULD BE UPDATED EVERY NOW AND THEN.

  1. For me, the best operating system is Linux because it rarely hangs.’*~

  2. operating systems can either make or break your system that is why it is wise to choose a vey stable one.*””

  3. May I submit that stability, here, refers to a dynamic stability, not a static one.
Computer operating systems need to be dynamically stable, too. However, it is probably true most of time that the more complex a computer operating system gets, the more likely it is to become unstable. The mind is much more complicated than Linux or Windows. It is more powerful in ways that rely on dynamic stability and a great deal of unconscious error checking. The mind is pretty weak at remembering static facts, but very powerful at pattern recognition. I ramble here a bit, my intent in this comment is to point out that the mind gains a great deal of power from an architecture that balances a lack of stability and stable memory against the need for complex, and flexible associative logic.

  4. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on computer. Regards

  5. If you have any problems relating to you third eye chakra
is indigo; That is tantric massage a blue purple color.
Apparently he was correct, because massage therapy naturally increases the blood flow in your muscles, not up and down,
up and down the legs. …….
